BTEC – Interior Design

Every day we wake up, work , travel, study, play … all human activities must require a system of  products, small items, such as lamps, cups, tables, chairs, pens … to phones, computers, cars … People have created the world of product and service and it is almost natural survival instincts toward human evolution .

Have you ever had the idea to change the product for better quality, more convenient or desire to make things more advance, more versatile, and more environmentally friendly? This is a key sector tied to industrial production of the country, contributing to the economy, providing competitive and high value goods. It is  the noble mission of the products designers.

The curriculum is a combination of harmony and synchronization between theory and practice to create a dynamic learning atmosphere . Along with providing the basics for beginning students to understand the design and the means to express ideas , while also learning program aimed at inspiring creativity , hobbies and personal style through the implementation of major projects.

Besides , the entire course will teach students to explore and apply the factors creating ethnic style , material developments in the water and go into the professions are popular or prospects in Vietnam.

Visual Communication in Art and Design

This unit aims to develop the necessary skills for artists, designers and craftworkers to communicate their ideas across specialist applications, both traditional and alternative.

Ideas Generation and Development in Art and Design

Creative thinking and the ability to generate free flowing ideas are vital skills for all artists and designers. This unit aims to develop skills in generating and communicating ideas visually.

Contextual and Cutural referencing in Art and Design

The aim of this unit is to encourage an understanding of the social, psychological, cultural, historical and commercial factors which underpin all visual arts theory and practice across the spectrum of subject specialisms.

Professional Practice in Art and Design

The aim of this unit is to extend learners’ knowledge of professional practices within their specialist area and to relate these to personal goals and career opportunities.

Project Design, Implementation and Evaluation Not Set

To develop learners’ skills of independent enquiry by undertaking a sustained investigation of direct relevance to their vocational, academic and professional development.

Interior design is the industry of application art . Your work is three-dimensional space, so you should be equipped with the knowledge of the layout, aesthetic style, color, perspective and creativity. You will face self-innovation, live in creative thinking and follow the world’s highest trend .

Program

Focus on spatial planning, creative problem solving, communication skills and knowledge of materials, lighting, construction techniques, drawings with computer skills and the history of design from basic to advanced will help you succeed in the interior & related fields such as architecture, landscape … with diverse industry knowledge , and extensive practice.

Design Method

This unit aims to give learners opportunities to develop skills and knowledge in the development of new products or services in design pathways.

Properties of 3D Materials

This unit aims to develop learners’ skills and understanding common to the broad area of 3D design and the potential design implications of selected materials.

Commercial Model Making

This unit aims to develop skills and understanding of learners who intend to follow careers as model makers in the architectural, interior design, industrial design, media or entertainment industries.

Furniture Design

This unit aims to develop learners’ skills and understanding in the design and production of furniture.

Digital Image Creation and Development

This unit aims to develop skills and understanding in sourcing, creating, developing and managing digital images for specific purposes.

Drawing Techniques and Processes in Art and Design

This unit aims to develop and extend learners’ technical and creative skills through drawing and their understanding of drawing media, materials and techniques.

Interior Design

This unit aims to develop learners’ skills and understanding needed to create and modify interior environments for specific purposes and to a professional standard.

Design for Performing Arts

This unit aims to develop learners’ skills and understanding in functioning as set designers, costume or visual effects designers in the entertainment and performance industry.

Exhibition and Retail Design

This unit aims to develop learners’ skills and understanding necessary to operate successfully within a commercial exhibition and retail design context.

Management of Art Exhibitions Linked Reference Number

This unit aims to develop learners’ skills and understanding in the process of exhibiting art work and its communication within the wider public domain.

Work-based experience

This unit aims to enable learners to experience the scope and depth of learning which may take place in a work-based context by planning, monitoring and evaluating the work experience.

It takes  2 years and a half for each major  with total 10 terms, more details below:

–          Year 1: 4 terms

–          Year 2: 4 terms

–          Final Year: 2 terms (involving a term of intership)

To successfully complete the approval course of study, students MUST pass all units with total 245 credits.
